Cumaru (Dipteryx odorata)

The South American tropical wood Cumaru, also known as tonkawood, is an extremely durable and heavy type of woodThe heartwood and sapwood of Cumaru are clearly recognisable.
The sapwood is light yellow and the heartwood is yellow/brown to red/brown, usually with yellow/red veins. Cumaru has a somewhat oily feel, a fresh a mild vanilla.
Cumaru is ideal as flooring timber. The wood is scratch-resistant and hardwearing and is therefore used frequently on work floors. Cumaru is excellent for various types of finishing methods, such as oils, waxing or varnishing.
