Oak
Smaragd Solid Oak is durable, luxurious and has a warm appearance. It has a very particular grain and has remained so popular over the centuries because it can be combined with everything. Oak is ideal for various types of finishing methods, such as oils, waxing or varnishes.
The European Oak used for Smaragd, Quercus Petraea, has a white yellow-brown colour and forms a distinct contrast with the bleached brown sapwood. Quarters of sawn wood show characteristic shiny ‘mirrors’, created by the wide  beams. The wood is ring porous which creates a flame pattern on the fresh surface. Structure and quality vary, depending on the growth conditions.
Smaragd engineered two-strip flooring gives you the best of two worlds – the timeless look of a solid oak floor, with the stability of a floor that has been adapted to the current requirements in the field of design and stability. The high quality cross gluing at the factory of the solid top layer to a bottom layer of birch or oak makes it possible to glue this product directly to almost any floor. Suitable for use immediately after installation.
