Ipe (Tabebuia serratifolia)

Ipé, Brazilian Walnut, or, ‘Greenheart’, is a tremendously hard tropical hardwood that, in contrast to most other types of hardwood from Central and South America, is not reddish but more brown and brown/green in colour.
The wood also displays olive-like shades in the heartwood.
Ipé has a fairly homogenous structure, without a striking pattern. The wood contains Lapachol, which is visible as green stripes on the longitudinal side. With Smaragd Ipé you are purchasing a floor that is extremely durable.
